Our Standards

LEED Certified - LEED is an internationally recognized certification system that measures how well a building or community performs across all the metrics that matter most: energy savings, water efficiency, CO2 emissions reduction, improved indoor environmental quality, and stewardship of resources and sensitivity to their impacts.

FSC - FSC is an independent, non-governmental, not for profit organization established to promote the responsible management of the world’s forests. Products carrying the FSC label are independently certified to assure consumers that they come from forests that are managed to meet the social, economic and ecological needs of present and future generations.

ENERGY STAR - ENERGY STAR is a joint program of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the U.S. Department of Energy helping us all save money and protect the environment through energy efficient products and practices. Results are already adding up. Americans, with the help of ENERGY STAR, saved enough energy in 2007 alone to avoid greenhouse gas emissions equivalent to those from 27 million cars — all while saving $16 billion on their utility bills.

Low VOC Products - volatile organic compounds, or VOCs, are a wide range of carbon-based molecules (organic compounds) used in a wide range of products that find their way into our homes. Under normal conditions, they vaporize, effectively leaving their host and entering the air (that's the "volatile" part) where they combine with other airborne compounds to form ozone, which isn't good to breathe.

Our Materials

Umbrella Cabinetry is known by our clients for using only the best in sustainable materials. One of these key players in our products is bamboo. You might associate bamboo as a type of tree, but think again! Bamboo is actually a type of grass with a hard, woody stem. Bamboo products have been around dating back to as far as 7000 years ago in China. The particular type of Bamboo we incorporate in our products is PLYBOO which is derived from the species "Moso". This particular species of bamboo grows to maturity in around five to six years with an astounding height of over 40 feet and a diameter of more than six inches! What makes bamboo such a sustainable material is the fact that it's one of the fastest growing plants in the world. This means heavy harvesting has almost no ecological impact on the environment.
